Memes For GOOD!!
Social Media has fundamentally changed our world, for better and worse. And we can wring our hands about it, but as the old saying (wrongly attributed to Mark Twain) goes;
“Everybody talks about the weather, but nobody does anything about it”

So we can sit on the sidelines, talking about social media, or we can harness it’s awesome power to affect change. Such is the case with Drew Scanlon. Mr. Scanlon is better known online as “The Blinking White Guy” from the meme in the picture above.
And while he’s never used the meme himself (he’s described that as “wearing the bands t-shirt to the show”) he did recenlty go on Twitter to ask people who have to make a donation to an MS Bike Ride he’s taking part in. Thanks to the viral nature of social media, he’s raised thousands off his unintentional fame.
